The Stork

Cutie Pie, our adorable little 13" beagle is expecting puppies around September 12th. Check back for updates as we watch her stork page unfold.

Cutie is more than half way through her pregnancy. 37 days done with only 3 1/2 weeks left until her due date. She's looking pretty good so far and just barely starting to show. The heat is getting to her alot, but isn't it getting to ALL of us?

Well, not Jake.... I just wanted you to see how beautiful he is!
BUT

Sammy is going to be one busy daddy

It seems as though almost overnight Cutie's tummy popped. I couldn't believe how much bigger so was this morning compared to what she looked like last night. She is a little less then three weeks away from her due date and is doing really well.

Cutie has just 11 more days to go. She's looking good and feeling as good as she looks. Her appetite is still good and her energy level is up. She is starting to do a little investigating around the yard as she looks for a comfy place to nest, but she'll have her very own whelping area in the house as soon as it gets a little closer to her due date.
In this photo you see Cutie at 52 days, and the big daddy, or should I say big baby, Sammy, playing in the background. Definitely keeping a close eye on the mother of his babies though....

I really can't tell you that I'm absolutely positive Bonnie is expecting. I think they she is, but I'm just not positive. Bonnie has definitely starting developing larger nipples, but I thought she would be showing more than she is at this point. The next week will tell the story for sure!
The only thing I know for sure is Cutie is going to be a mommy soon!
.JPG)

As you can see from these photos, Cutie is doing fine and enjoying the company of her pal Bonnie.

...... Less than a week to go .......jpg)
She's looking so sweet, and is totally in her needy stage. Her eyes light up when she see's her human family and would rather be nowhere else in the world than by our side. Of course we oblige her and spend as much time as we can loving her up. She's searching for a nesting place in the yard. I've boarded up just about any place I fear her nesting in, like under the shed or steps!!! Her temperature has dropped, but not enough to indicate labor is soon. I'm pretty sure she'll go right to her due date, which is 9/12.
All and all she's looking as cute as a button, and feeling great!

Just 5 days to go, and although Cutie's temperature is not low enough to expect labor to begin, she's showing all the signs that labor is close. As you can see in this photo, she's panting non-stop, which is a sign of early labor, plus she's nesting big time. If her temperature was lower I'd be saying she's in labor, but I suppose that could change in a minute. We will start keeping a VERY close eye on Cutie from here on out.

9/8/05
Cutie had a pretty comfortable night last night, especially once I realized she had owngrown the doorway in her kennel and moved her to a bigger one where she could fit easily. The funny thing is, she fit fine in the morning! She is starting to get pretty HUGE! Her temp still has not dropped, but I'm predicting a Sunday delivery with eight beautiful puppies.
(Just between you and me, I'm always wrong!)

9/10/05
There really isn't alot to report today. It's just a waiting game at this point. Cutie is doing alot more resting today, and for the first time I'd have to say she'd rather stay in her kennel then come out and exercise, but then again, who could blame her. Her temperature is 99.3. Still not low enough, but we're getting there. Her tummy has dropped and for the first time in awhile you can see the definition in her waist again. Her belly is very round. In the backview below you can definitely see just how big she is.

Meanwhile, back at the kennel we have Bonnie who is just looking delightful as her tummy starts to grow and round out. Just 17 days to go for her, and she's looking adorable. She's knows she has to take it easy now that she's with puppies, so she stopped playing hard with Sammy in the kennel, but now and then they meet in the yard and just hang out and chat, like yesterday for instance.
Scroll slowly as the photos tell a wonderful story about our sweet, inquisitive, mischievous, little Bonnie.

After an emergency c-section Tuesday, Cutie gave birth to 8 beautiful puppies. Four males and four females. Mom and puppies are all doing great.

Bonnie is a one digit midget

Bonnie is down to just nine days until her due date. She's doing great and looking just as good. First time mommy for Bonnie, but she's taking good care of herself. Making very sure not to over due it while playing with the other dogs, especially her favorite playmate, Sammy. Seems Sammy's her first choice in all departments, including parenting!
Content, happy, and growing like a weed

Cutie is doing much better these days. Diving into her food like she hasn't eaten in a week.... Well, I guess that's not too far from the truth. Anyway, she's feeling better and I swear I even see a smile on her face when she looks at her puppies. Speaking of which, the pups are gaining weight by the hour. I weigh them three times a day and each time they weigh more than the time before. I'm very pleased with their progress, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! The pups are one week old today.

TODAY'S FEATURED PUPPY
Meet Mr. Tee, I mean Mrs. Tee
We've nicknamed this cute little guy, I mean little girl, Mr.Tee, I mean Mrs. Tee, and if you scroll down you'll know why. He's, I mean she's a beautiful little pup who was born almost all gray and is only now starting to turn a pretty shade of brown, which in itself is unique since usually the browns take months to come in. I'm not sure what his, I mean her final coloring is going to be, but it will be special.

James had to come and meet his new puppy alone this past weekend because his little girl wasn't feeling well, but the two of them hit it off right from the start. Zoe's tail never stopped wagging from the minute James picked her up. He can't wait until he can bring Zoe home to meet her new mommy, big sister Allison and little baby brother.
________________________________________________________________
Meet Dotty
We've nicknamed this sweet little girl Dotty because of the black dot on her chest. Weighing in at 13 ounces this morning, Dotty is the smallest puppy in the litter. She's definitely a cuddler and loves spending time being held and snuggled after weigh in every morning.
Joanne and Harry are now the new mommy and daddy to cute little Dotty, who will now be known as Brandy. The couple are thrilled with their newest family member and can't wait to bring her home to meet her big brother Baxter.
________________________________________________________________
Meet Sunny
How handsome is this little boy! Sunny is the biggest puppy of the litter. This mornings weigh in was 1 lb. 6 1/8 oz. Not only is his coloring absolutely beautiful, but he's a big sweetheart. A bit of a cry baby, but that's only because he doesn't want mommy too far away just in case he gets hungry.

Tracey and her father in law couldn't get enough of this little guy. Sunny was very content sleeping and cuddling in Tracey's arms the whole visit. No new name for our little Sunny yet.
________________________________________________________________
Meet Dolly

Well, hello Dolly. What can you say about a puppy who is already picture perfect. A fantasic sweet face, and a puppy who purr's when you cuddle with her. Dolly is the next smallest puppy but is definitely catching up to the rest of the pack. Simply gorgeous!

Little Mizzou, aka Dolly will never be too far away from her new daddy, Todd. He had a hard time picking her out, but once he did there was no looking back. Todd, Missou is definitely for you!
________________________________________________________________
Meet General
I know General is an odd nickname for a puppy, but when I spotted this puppy having black markings RIGHT where his studly belongings will one day appear, I realized this was an idication of his unique potential to become the leader of the troops. General is a big boy, weighing in this morning at 1 lb. 6 ounces.

This will be the Cahill families first puppy, and everyone is thrilled with General. No new name for him yet, but I'm sure the kids will come up with something unique. General is one lucky little puppy and is going to get PLENTY of love and attention from his new family.
News flash: The Cahill's have decided to name their puppy Chuckie
________________________________________________________________
Meet Lou

Our last little guy is Lou. Just as handsome as the rest, Lou is the one that most resembles his daddy as a puppy. I have a feeling this little guy is going to be the spitting image of Sammy when he grows up. AND, that's not a bad thing! Lou was a whopping 1 pound 8 ounces this morning.

Mike and Megan pretty much had no say in what puppy they got, BUT were delighted with their new puppy Lou. They were so happy with their puppy that I was beginning to think their smiles were stuck. They're counting down the days until they can bring little Carnegie home.

Mutt and Jeff

What a difference a pound makes. At this mornings weigh in, here is Cutie's biggest puppy Sunny at 2lbs 1oz, and Dotty the smallest puppy at 1lb 2oz.
.JPG)
The pups are 16 days old today and looking great! Even our smallest puppy Dotty is starting to put on some serious ounces. She gained two ounces yesterday alone. You can see her in this photo next to Sunny. She's not that small anymore. Their eyes and ears are starting to open now, and pretty soon they'll start trying to get up on all fours as they whobble and trip their way around the whelping pen. Soon Cutie and the pups will be moved to the other side of the kennel to make room for Bonnie and her new family, which we're hoping will be any time now.
.JPG)
Picture Perfect
With just 6 days left until her due date, Bonnie is proud to show off her big tummy.

Who needs a fishing pole when you have a dog like Bonnie? Five days left until her due date, but Bonnie doesn't care. She has much better things to focus on....
(Don't worry, these fish are still faster than Bonnie)
CONGRATULATIONS BONNIE
Bonnie delivered 8 healthy puppies yesterday, 9/30.
Five boys and three girls.

#1 It's a BOY!

It was a hard decision, but Joe, Ann Marie and the kids finally picked out these two cute little guys. Bonnie's first and last puppies born will now be know as
Casey (left) and Sonny (right).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

#2 It's a BOY!

Mark and Victoria didn't have too much trouble picking out their little Jeremy, but they did have trouble leaving him. It's going to be a LONG three weeks for this happy couple.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

#3 It's a GIRL!
This pretty little girls mommy and daddy will be out to see her next weekend.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

#4 It's a BOY!

Joanne (on the right) recuited Auntie Colleen for a little help picking out her new puppy. Both girls agreed on little Brody as the lucky new puppy.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

#5 It's a GIRL!

Little Ditto is the new puppy for Beth and Frank. These second time beagle owners are getting a baby sister for Frank's dog Maggie. But, there's not doubt about it, Ditto is all Beth's.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

#6 It's a GIRL!

It took some time for Barbara to decide, but once she did Molly became the love of her life. Whether it was three week, three days, or three hours, it's still tooooooooooo long for her to wait until she brings her new puppy home.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

#7 It's a BOY!

Chris and Sharon wind up with adorable little Brodeur, pronounced phonetically as
"Bro-Door," whom they will be calling Brody for short. Brody spent most of the visit just cuddled up sleeping in Chris and Sharon's arms, but they loved every minute of it. It's going to be a loooong 3 weeks for this couple.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

#8 It's a BOY!

Two new puppies for the Franzese family. Now Joe can really show off his new family to his co-workers, who incidentally have been watching the stork story unfold right along with whole family. Casey and Sonny are already two little popular puppies. Now you guys, GET BACK TO WORK!

To me it is always exciting to be part of the experience and miracle of my beautiful female beagles giving birth. I try very hard to help my waiting list families experience the process on delivery day as much as possible, but nothing is as good as actually being there, watching, assisting, experiencing first hand.
There are two videos available for those of you who would like to watch Bonnie giving birth to male puppy #4 and female puppy #5.

Cutie's pups at three weeks old

Sleeping like little angels, and then I came along!

Wake up babies!!!

Bonnie's pups are three days old and doing great!!!
Cutie's Cutie's
October 6th

Cutie's pups are a little over three weeks old now. Their eyes and ears are open wide, and they definitely respond to my voice. When I greet them they jump up, get excited, a crawl toward me. They're not up on all fours yet, but they are trying to stand. Probably by next week they'll be walking. If you look closely in the photos you will see them playing with each other by wrestling around and play biting.
Bonnie's Beauty's
October 6th

Tomorrow the pups will be one week old. Everyone is doing great. They're eyes and ears are still shut, but probably within the next few days they'll start to open. Bonnie is a fantastic mommy and won't leave their side for a second. I have to pick her up and carry her outside for a potty break. In a few more days she'll venture out without being forced. Her goal right now is 24/7 undivided attention. The pups have had no trouble finding their food supply from the second they were born and are gaining weight nicely.

Bonnie's Pups at 12 days old

At five weeks old, Cutie's pups are happy, healthy, playful little puppies. And, are now stealing food from mommy's food dish. They also enjoy a cool drink from Cutie's water bowl. They have adorable little play barks and growls, AND have finally discovered there is a new world "OUTSIDE" of their whelping area. They come in and out at will and tend to follow their mother around from one end of the kennel to the other. Now the fun begins!

All 14 pups spent a little time playing together today

A final peek before they leave

The pups had one last goodbye playdate and meal with mommy yesterday. They are now totally weanned and ready to leave the nest for their new homes. Cutie was a wonderful, loving mother, which in turn will play a HUGE roll in the temperament of her young pups.

And now all the pups notice mommy and want her too.

Less than a week to go. The pups are out having a little playtime before lunch. We try to do this before a meal for obvious reasons..
