The news I am about to share with you is unbelieveable and I must say, A FIRST FOR ME!!!!  As you know, I brought Powder for a pregnancy test which came back negative.  Well, YOU tell me what you think!!!  The first photo below is a picture of what Powder usually looks like.  Under that is a photo of  Powder taken just this morning.  I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm thinking either the test was WRONG and Powder is indeed pregnant, or she ate a watermelon when I wasn't looking.

I'm leaning toward pregnancy!

Powder and the Sire of her pups, Chop A Line Jackhammer will be expecting their little ones around December 7th.

Jack is the same daddy to Powder's first litter born a year ago this past June.  To see their first litter, click here "Happy B-day Powders Pups" and enjoy their birthday page.

It's hard to believe both girls are already more than half way through their pregnanacy.  In these photos Powder has only 26 days to go and Wendy has 30.  They're both still pretty active and going about the day as they normally would.  They are starting to show but they're not too big yet.  The next week should tell the story as their bodies start making some noticeable changes.

Both girls spent some time today (11/15/04) posing for a little photo shoot.  As you can see they're both starting to show quite nicely.  Powder is pretty big for still having three weeks to go.  Her first litter about 18 months ago gave us 9 healthy puppies, so I wouldn't be surprised if this was another big litter.  Wendy has about 3 1/2 weeks to go and is doing great.  Like Powder, she has plenty of energy and would spend the whole day roaming around the yard if I let her.  Powder's appetite is huge, while Wendy is more picky and slowly grazes when she's fed.  Her appetite should increase within the next week or so.

Wendy 37 days into her pregnancy

Powder 41 days into her pregnancy

Both Wendy and Powder just strolling around the yard getting their daily exersise.

Cody, Powder's son from her first litter just logged on to our website and discovered his mommy is having puppies and he's going to have some brother's and sister's real soon.  Cody lives in South Jersey with his family, who just simply adore him.   As you can see they still haven't quite figured out he's a dog yet.  I'm thinking the next photo I get of him will be behind the stirring wheel of a brand new Mustang convertible.

Thanks for sharing the photo Gary!

November 21, 2004

The girls still have a fair amount of energy, but their walking looks more like waddling now-a-days.  They are getting huge.  It's hard to believe they still have a few weeks to go, especially Wendy.  I wouldn't be surprised if they have eight or more pups each, but trust me, I have nothing to base that on.  Powder's appetite is gigantic.  As you can see from the photo, food is the most important thing in her life right now.  Wendy's appetite has changed too, but not as intense as Powder's.

The next two weeks are going to be the period where the most dramatic changes will take place.  The fetuses will grow rapidly and our girls tummies will widen even more.  They will both become less active and will start taking more naps throughout the day saving all their energy as nature prepares them for the hard work ahead.  Their attitudes will change and could become a little moody or easily agitated.  Their need for a little extra love and cuddling will increase and they will more than likely be spending more time by my side.  Powder is usually not this way, but Wendy has already started needing some EXTRA LONG hugs.

Stop back as we start the countdown
Powder 15 days to go, Wendy 19 days

12 more days to go for Powder.  She's looking really good.  Still full of energy and in great shape.

Wendy is doing great.  She's looking a little "BIG," but she's hanging in there with just 16 days to go.  As you can see in the photo she has started searching for a spot to nest.  Of course she'll be moved into the house to have her pups, but she's preparing early just in case.

Come back as the countdown continues

December 2, 2004

Powder, just 5 more days to go.  Wendy 4 days later with 9 days to go.  Both girls are doing great.  Unbelievably still very active for how close they are to their due date.  When you gently hold the palm of your hand against their stomach you can feel the tiny movements of their little babies.  The pups and their mommies are GROWING by the day.  Powder is starting to have trouble fitting through the opening in her kennel.  I moved her in the house, but she'd rather be outside, so for now she'll spend days out and nights in.  Her appetite has slowed way down, which is pretty normal for this time in her pregnancy.

Both girls are doing great.  Hopefully by this time next week we'll have two new litters of puppies to brag about.

To be con't

Today, December 4th is the day where the most obvious signs that Powder is getting close are happening.  Despite ALL my attempts to keep Powder in the house to have her litter, there is only one place she wants to be and that's out in the kennel where she usually stays.  I decided it's more important for her to be out there where she feels comfortable rather than inside and create a nervous atmosphere for her since it's obvious that is not where she wants to be.  Luckily we have cameras inside our kennel and can monitor everything from inside the house.  If she needs help we will know it.

Powder is ready and is beginning to prepare for the arrival of her new babies.  She has definitely decided on the place where she will have her family and has begun the nesting process by getting the area ready for the hard work ahead.  She has made a neat little bird like nest in the straw where she will whelp her puppies any time from now.   She lays quitely within her comfortable nest as she rests for the long labor ahead, which I believe will be sooner rather than later.

Wendy is doing fine.  She has been moved to the inside kennel and is content there.  There is not much to report about her at this time.  Her pups are do next Saturday, so for now we're concentrating on Powder and hoping we have a bunch of healthy puppies with no complications.

At one day old, Powder and her pups are doing great.  Each one has found mommies milk with no trouble and have chubby little plump tummies.  I was able to take a little closer look today when I weighed them, but still not as close as I'd like to.  Mommy gets a little nervous with us handling her pups.  Their weight ranged from 10 to 13 ounces.  They're all pretty good size and thriving nicely in their warm little whelping area.

Here are a few pictures just taken today.

And, let's not forget about Wendy who is due in about 4 days.  These days you can find her walking around the house with a orange stuffed animal in her mouth, which I'm sure she has adopted as her first born.  The two of them are inseparable, and I wouldn't even begin to try to pry them apart.   She's sweet, she's huge, and she's doing well.

Wendy Went into labor yesterday, 12/8 at 6:00pm and finally delivered her first puppy at 4:15am this morning.  It took the first one quite a while to be born, but after that she popped them out in no time...  She delivered all her puppies in record time, finishing up at 9:23am this morning.

So, lets count and see just how many she had...

OOPPSSSSS, I MEAN ELEVEN LITTLE BEAGLE PUPPIES TO LOVE!!!!

That's right, Wendy had a total of 11, that's ELEVEN puppies today.  Seven females and four males.

Mommy and pups are doing great!!! Only eight nipples, but 11 puppies are taking turns sharing mommies milk and are doing a nice job. Most of the pups weigh a little over 8 ounces, with two little girls weighing in at 7 1/2 ounces. The smaller pups are receiving supplemental feedings from us until they gain a couple of ounces. Since Wendy's puppies look so much alike the color collars will help us distinguish the pups and enable us to keep more accurate records on each pup. By the way, we did have one bruiser of a male weighing in at 11 1/2 ounces at birth. Wendy's puppies weighed an average of about 4 ounces less than Powder's puppies at birth. I can understand why since she had so many. From what I can tell, among all the beagle breeders I know, this litter is a record in my network of breeders.
Congratulations Momma Wendy!

Meanwhile, back on the Powder side of the kennel are these eight little beauty's.....  Looking like plump, cuddly little miniture snowballs.  Only four days older, but yet giant compared to Wendy's little guys.  They remind me so much of their mother that I want to call them all Powder Junior.   They are all doing great, and like Wendy, Powder is a wonderful mommy.  They are gaining weight every day and are very content little darlings.  All 19 pups and their mommies live in their own separate whelping kennels where you will find them nice and toasty warm as they nap on their heated linoleum floors.   Hopefully starting next week I'll try to feature one puppy from each litter every few days, so we can all watch the progess of these 19 little guys until they finally say good-bye and leave to start their new lives with their new families.

These photos were taken yesterday 12/15.  Powder's pups are now 10 days old and are close to two pounds, which is amazing at this age.  She's taken care of them very nicely, although we do have some bad news to report.  One of her male puppies didn't make it.  There was no apparent reason for his death, especially since like all the others he was gaining weight nicely and seemed healthy enough.  I'm thinking that Powder could have possibly stepped on him and caused an internal injury.  Sometimes this does happen and their little bodies can't take the tramatic hit this becomes for them.  It's not something anyone can prevent, and it's always very hard to lose a puppy, especially when everything seems to be going well.  The good news is all the others seem well and spend most of their sleeping away in their warm cozy kennel.  Probably within the next few days their eyes and ears will start to open, and soon after that they will try to get up on their feet to learn a new way of transporting themselves from one end of the kennel to the other.  Soon scouting on their tummies to get around will be a thing of the past.

These photos of Wendy's pups were also taken yesterday, 12/16.  She's doing a great job feeding 11 puppies and all seem to be doing well.  One of the little females is alot smaller than the rest, weight about 4-8 ounces smaller than the others, so she gets special time with her mommy three times a day, which means Wendy, and Peanut come out of the kennel and have some one on one nursing time all by themselves.  This has helped alot and she has gained almost two ounces the past two days topping off at 10 1/4 ounces.  She's a little fighter and I can already see where she is going to be a fiesty little bugger some day.  The others are getting big and weighing in a little under a pound.

Some new photos of Wendy's family on 12/17
at 8 days old.

Our little "Peanut" is right in the middle of this photo. (above)  She is the one with a large amount of white on the back of the head and neck area.  Today our little girl weighed 12 3/8 ounces.  Gaining two ounces from yesterday!

Powder's Kids

Wendy's Kids

Powder's pups are doing great.  All the pups are gaining weight nicely and are taking on their own  individual little personalities.  When they hear me coming they pop their heads up with anticipation.  Little puppy barks and growls are a common noise coming from their kennel.  Sometimes they even get curious and try to peek their little heads out the door of the kennel for a quick view of the outside world.  A world they will soon get brave enough to try to venture out into.

Wendy's pups are also doing great.  Just four days younger than Powder's, but considerably smaller.  I'm sure that's due to the fact that there were so many of them... 11 is a huge litter for any breed.  Even our smallest little girl, who we call peanut is gaining weight every day.  She weighed in at 1 pound 3 1/2 ounces today.  Gaining at least an ounce a day.  Wendy's pups also have their cute little puppy barks and growls and are starting to respond to my voice.  Their eyes and ears are open wide and are enjoying seeing the world.

Today, New Year's Eve, Powder and Wendy's pups met for the first time.  All the pups had a little play time and got to meet each other up close.  After about 3 minutes of playtime all the pups cuddle up together and fell asleep. It didn't matter if the pups cuddled with their own littermate or not.  They just needed a warm little body to snuggle with.  All the pups seem to be doing fine. Very playful and people friendly.  They love to be held and cuddled and look forward to my many visits a day.  Powder's pups have tiny little teeth and I can just begin to feel little sharp points where Wendy's babies will soon break through their gums.  Next week I will begin introducing puppy food to all the pups.

Enjoy a pool full of pups!

THEN

Meet Powder's BIGGEST (male 4 lbs 4 oz.) puppy  and Wendy's SMALLEST (female 1 lb 8 oz) puppy below.
It's hard to believe they are only 4 days apart.

We affectionately refer to these two little dolls as "Tank" and "Peanut."  Can you guess which one is which?
If you have a name that you think is totally right for these guys, Click here and cast your vote.  Starting this Thursday through Sunday all our puppy families will be coming to pick out their new puppy and who knows, they just might like your suggestion.

This is the puppy I want!
Meet the families who are adopting Powder and Wendy's puppies.  The choosing has begun and everyone is having a hard time deciding just which puppy they want to join their family, but once they do it's instant love!

Linda and Tom picked one of Wendy's little boys, whom we will now refer to as "Murphy."  They waited a long time to get a new puppy after losing their dear Hercules over a year ago, but little Murphy has a new family who already loves him.

If a picture says a thousand words, Kevin and Brandis are talking non stop.....  Kevin picked out his own birthday present today.  Little "Sydney" is Powders one and only little girl, whom I'm sure will be pampered and fussed over 24/7.
HOW HAPPY DOES THAT MAKE ME!!!!
Happy Birthday Kevin!

"Frodo" pretty much picked Mike and Annemarie when he walked up to them and started tugging at Mike's hand.  The couple have been waiting a long time for one of Powder's puppies, and couldn't stop smiling the whole time they were here.  Puppies have a way of doing that to people!

And the lucky family is, THE FRENZEL'S.  Natalie and Bill came to visit their Tank today.  They've been keeping the surprise from the kids for so long that Natalie was about to bust!  Anyway, Tank is not Tank anymore.  As he said in the movie, "Yo Adrienne."  Our little Tank will now be called, "Rocky."

Jane, Pete, and the kids had a hard time deciding which puppy to get but they finally all agreed on this little guy from Powder's litter.  "Boone" is the newest member of their family and has a big surprise waiting for him when he gets home in a couple of weeks.  Buck, the 8 year old family beagle is home waiting to teach Boone all his hunting tricks when they go upstate on the weekends, but I have a feeling mom isn't going to let this little beagle out of her sight.

Peggy, Andy, and Paige had no trouble picking out Wendy's little girl "Emma" as their new family member.  They're thrilled with their choice and can't wait to bring her home in just a few short weeks.  Even Wendy decided to join the picture and add her stamp of approval to her baby's new family.

Thanks to the "Make a Wish" foundation in the state of Ct., Ben and his family will be enjoying their new family member, which he has named, "T."  Everyone is thrilled with their new puppy and are counting the days until they come back to bring "T" home for good.

It took no time at all for Dan, Allison, and the kids to pick their new puppy.  "Sunny,"  (That's with a u) one of Wendy's little boys spent most of the visit snoozing in his new mommy's arms, but the kids are counting the days until they come back to pick him up.
Just three more weeks Andy!

It was instant love for Harry and his family when they saw our little "Peanut."  She's tiny but she was big enough to stand out in a crowd.   And,  Jake thinks he'll keep her name right where it is.  So, to all of you who have cast your suggestions, looks like Jake has the final say.

Pasha brought along his uncle Steve to help pick out his puppy, but in the end it was little "Kacy" who won them ALL over.

The Nussbaum's are counting the days until they can bring Wendy's little girl "Kirby" home with them.  Lucky little puppy is going to have loads of fun playing with her big sister and brother.

Ralph, Noreen, and Josh pose for a family photo with their new puppy "Jessie."   Jessie is one of Wendy's females and is truly a little sweetheart.  All she did was snuggle up in her new mommy's arms the whole visit.

A perfect puppy for a great family.  Isabel picked out her new puppy which she has decided to name "Comanche."  Very interesting name, but a sweet little girl who is already in love with the newest member of her family.

Speaking of sweet; no other puppy would do but little "Stella" for Emily.  She had her heart set on a little female and Stella won her heart the moment she saw her.  Nicholas wanted a male, but from the look on his face in this picture you'd never know it.

How great is this!!!  Kevin is posing with his new puppy, "Jackson" as mommy Powder watches through the window.  Jackson will be living with his new dad in NYC, but no fear, Kevin is a dentist so I'm sure Jackson will have the healthiest canine teeth in the city.

It was instant love for Edith when she saw her new puppy, "Trooper."  Wendy's little guy was very happy and content to just cuddle with Edith the whole visit.  I have a feeling he is going to be spending alot of time in her lap once he comes home.

Peter and Timmy picked Wendy's little girl, whom will now and forever be called "Gracie."   A sweet name for an adorable little girl, and two great guys to take care of and love her.

AND, now we have the 18th family on our list who had virtually no choice about what puppy they would get, wound up with Powder's little boy.  So, how happy is Andy, Will and their parents?   Well, they get two extra photos to show you how thrilled they are with their little guy "Forrest."

If that ain't love, I don't know what is!

Lots of things going on today and I wanted to share them with you.... A little photo shoot for the pups, and a first feeding for Wendy's pups.

THEY LOVED IT!!!!
Can you figure out which puppy is YOURS?  If you remembered what color your puppy's collar is, it would help.... Remember there are two of every color.  One for a male puppy and one for a female puppy.

Dark Green - Emma
Yellow - Murphy
Black - Kirby
Lime Green - Sunny
Lime Green- Peanut (too small for collar right now)
Orange - Kacy
Light blue - Stella
Red - Comanche
Red - Jessie
Pink - Gracie
Pink - Trooper  (sorry buddy)

I think this is "Comanche" and "Murphy"

Powder's pups squeezing for a peek

Jake's little "Peanut."  The first one to get to the food dish and the last one to leave the dinner table.  She absoultely LOVES real food!

A photo of Ben's puppy "T"

And Kevin's "Jackson."

A cute look at some puppy eyes!

What sweet little babies... Wendy's pups just kinda look on as I snap away at my camera, AGAIN!  I think they're just trying to humor me.

An upclose peek at Powders one and only little girl, "Sydney" as we spent a little play time together this morning.

Powder's pups are almost ready to leave.  Starting Friday 1/21 the pups will be leaving for their new homes.  Here is a photo of Powder's sweet little guy "Boone."  How adorable is this!

"Forrest" enjoyed a little one on one playtime this afternoon.  Don't worry, Wendy's pups will be photographed too!

Frodo spent his morning playing by himself.  Powder's sweet little guy will be one of the first to leave the this week.  We're saying good-bye to Frodo this Thursday.

A little tired after the excitement of meeting his new family today, Rocky, aka Tank enjoys a little R & R after playtime.

Wendy's little boy Murphy takes center stage today.  A sweet little fellow who you can always find guarding the kennel door.

Emma is waiting patiently with just six more days to go before her mommy, daddy, and big sister Paige come to pick her up.

I know a little girl who is going to be very happy to see her new puppy.  Comanche loves to play with toys, so make sure you have plenty for him.

THIS JUST IN!!!!

Well, it looks like Boone is fitting right into his new family just nicely.  Here he is kickin back with his new roomate Buck.  I'm not sure if Buck is sleeping in Boone's bedroom, or if Boone is spending nap time in Buck's bed.  Either way it looks like the two guys are hitting it off just great!

(Thanks for the photo Jane and Pete)

Jessie is a sweet little girl.  Very laid back and is VERY comfortable cuddled in your arms.

Two more sweet little girls
Say hello to Gracie

AND

Little Kacy
Both girls out spending some fun time playing.

Remember her?

Our little Peanut is growing nicely.  Today weighed in at 3lbs 14oz.  A far stretch from her 7 3/8oz at birth.

Kirby is a very quiet easy going puppy.  Every day we spend some Kirby and Terry time together.  She  is definitely going to be a lap dog and  loves nothing better then to cuddle up and get cozy in your arms.

How adorable is this little guy.  Sunny loves horsing around with the other puppies, but also knows when it's time to cuddle.  He's a beauty!

Wendy's pups will be going home this weekend.  Today we'll feature the last two puppies.

Meet sweet little Stella

and

handsome and husky Trooper.

All the pups have been vacinated, nails trimmed and spruced up for their new families.  Starting tomorrow Wendy's pups will leave each other and go home to their new families.  I think it only just hit me for the first time.  They're really leaving!
